Clay had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They walked away with a 5-1 win over the Mary Persons Bulldogs.
Cole Carnell was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Merrick Rapoza, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Clay's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Mary Persons, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
Coming up, Clay will welcome Episcopal School of Jacksonville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Episcopal School of Jacksonville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Mary Persons, they will head out to challenge Whitewater at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
