Softball Recap: Wood-Ridge Falls to St. Mary in First Game of Season

Wood-Ridge unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 12-3 to the St. Mary Gaels on Wednesday. The Blue Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Gaels apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2018.

Wood-Ridge saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brielle Rivera, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Brooke Stellato was another, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wood-Ridge will host Lodi at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Mary, they will welcome DePaul Catholic on Saturday.
