Soccer Game Preview: Maury vs. Menchville

The Maury Commodores will take on the Menchville Monarchs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Maury is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Woodside a 5-0 shutout. The win was familiar territory for Maury, who have now won four games in a row.

Meanwhile, Menchville made easy work of Nansemond River on Tuesday and carried off a 5-1 victory. With Menchville ahead 3-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Menchville is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 95 goals over those 12 games. As for Maury, their victory bumped their record up to 15-3.

Maury came out on top in a nail-biter against Menchville in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. Will the Commodores repeat their success, or do the Monarchs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
