Recap: Plainfield Quakers vs. Mt. Vernon Marauders
The Plainfield Quakers fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Mt. Vernon Marauders on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Marauders 68-62. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Plainfield's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Collin Schmidt, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Harper Baker-lands, who scored 13 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Plainfield and nudges their season record down to 6-3. As for Mt. Vernon, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-2.
Plainfield won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against New Haven at 2:00 p.m. on December 23rd. New Haven is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak. Mt. Vernon won't have much time to rest: their next match is against South Bend Riley on December 23rd. One thing working in South Bend Riley's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.
