Softball Recap: Griffith Extends Winning Streak to Five

Griffith extended their winning streak to five on Saturday, bumping their season record up to 5-0 in the process. They were the clear victors by an 18-2 margin over the Knox Redskins. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-3 on Saturday.

Brylie Bridges made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and one triple. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Griffith got a massive performance out of Natalie Vianello, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those four runs gave Vianello a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bella Dawes, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.

Griffith kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits every time they've taken the field this season.

As for Knox, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-4. The contest marked their lowest-scoring game so far this season.

On Knox's side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kendra Linscott, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

Coming up, Griffith will venture away from home to challenge Calumet New Tech at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Knox, they will host LaVille at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
