Basketball Game Preview: Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe Warriors vs. Rockmart Yellowjackets

Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe is 5-0 against Rockmart since December of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe Warriors will be playing at home against the Rockmart Yellowjackets at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Tuesday, in a tight matchup that could have gone either way, Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe made off with a 65-64 victory over Sonoraville. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.

Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe relied on the efforts of Jared Mitchell, who went 7 for 11 en route to 15 points and eight boards, and Quintaris Tanner-Garrett, who went 7 of 17 on his way to 20 points and six steals. Those six steals gave Tanner-Garrett a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Champion Bowman, who posted seven points and five rebounds.

Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Rockmart had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They had just enough and edged Ringgold out 65-62.

Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe is also on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.6 points per game. As for Rockmart, their win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-16.

Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Rockmart in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 65-60 victory.
