            Football Recap: Ponderosa Bruins vs. Rio Americano Raiders        
        
		
        
        
            
If Ponderosa was feeling good  fresh off their  49-28 takedown of Christian Brothers last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bruins lost to the Rio Americano Raiders at home  by a   28-14 margin on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bruins of the  17-6 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in October of 2024.
 Colton Ridgley threw for 62 yards  on eight of 23 attempts.  On the ground,  Marshall Alvernaz rushed for 35 yards.
 Rio Americano's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Devin Pointes, who picked up 131 receiving yards and two  scores. Pointes has become a key player for the Raiders: the team is undefeated when he posts  at  least  80  receiving yards, but 2-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of  Ryder Trantham, who threw for 215 yards and three  TDs while picking up 10.8 yards per attempt.
Ponderosa's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Rio Americano, they have  been performing  well recently as they've  won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record  this season.
 Ponderosa didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next  contest,  a  35-34  win against Vista del Lago on the 24th. As for Rio Americano, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next  matchup,  a  20-17  defeat against Inderkum on the 24th.
