Soccer Game Preview: Laney vs. Hoggard

Laney hasn't had much luck against Hoggard recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Buccaneers will welcome the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Hoggard will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Laney extended their winning streak to four last Thursday. The Buccaneers never let West Brunswick get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. It was an even better day for Lucy Lauber as she scored three goals for her team.

Meanwhile, Hoggard entered their tilt with South Brunswick last Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Cougars 9-0. Given Hoggard's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked seventh, while South Brunswick are ranked 210th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hoggard pushed their record up to 13-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 57 goals over those nine matchups. As for Laney, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4-2.
