Football Recap: King Takes a Loss

King extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 11 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-6. They had to suffer through a 64-14 loss at the hands of the Carroll Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1128th, while the Tigers are ranked 534th).

King's loss came despite strong showings from Damon Smith and Jordan Davis. Smith picked up 145 receiving yards and one touchdown, while Davis gained 96 total yards and a touchdown. Davis was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 54 yards.

As for Carroll, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2. That looming 64-14 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

Carroll got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Braylen Swanson out in front who picked up 91 receiving yards and a pair of scores. The Tigers also got a significant boost from Cesar Morales, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 83 yards.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. King will take on Ray at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Carroll, they will challenge Miller at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Buccaneers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
