The Mullen Mustangs will head out to face off against the Grandview Wolves at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Mullen has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Grandview will arrive with five straight wins.
Arapahoe hit Mullen with a seven-run fourth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mustangs lost 10-3 to the Warriors.
Charlie Krza made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Brady Hirsh also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Grandview came out on top against Cherokee Trail on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run second inning. The Wolves sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-10 victory over the Cougars. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wolves have posted since May 23, 2025.
Grandview gave Zach Muniz the start and clearly made the right call: he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Muniz has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Jakson Bush was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Kayden Bohmeyer was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Grandview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.
Mullen's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Grandview, their record is now 8-6.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mullen hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. However, it's not like Grandview struggles in that department as they've averaged .338. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
