Baseball Game Preview: Redbank Valley Bulldogs vs. Karns City Gremlins

Redbank Valley and Karns City are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2018, but likely not for long. The Bulldogs will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Gremlins at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Redbank Valley has three straight victories, Karns City has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Wednesday, Redbank Valley beat Clarion-Limestone 6-2.

The team relied heavily on Breckin Minich, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. He is becoming a predictor of Redbank Valley's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 2-3 when he doesn't).

Meanwhile, Karns City lost 14-4 to Clarion Area on Monday.

Karns City saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Sherwin, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Sherwin hit this season. Adam Manuel was another, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Karns City's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Redbank Valley, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Redbank Valley came up short against Karns City in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 9-6. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
