Softball Recap: Oak Hill Triumphs

Oak Hill proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 12) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the Woodrow Wilson Flying Eagles 5-4. This was a revenge game for the Red Devils: when they faced off against the Flying Eagles back in March, they had to take a 6-5 loss.

KK Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Oak Hill saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Payten Farrell, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Farrell has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last 11 times she's played. Mia Calloway was another, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Oak Hill's record now sits at 10-14. As for Woodrow Wilson, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-16.

Looking ahead, Oak Hill will challenge Shady Spring at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Woodrow Wilson, they will take on Huntington at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Flying Eagles are facing the Highlanders at the right time seeing as the Highlanders are stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
