Softball Preview: Scarborough Red Storm vs. Deering Rams

Scarborough is 10-0 against Deering since May of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Scarborough Red Storm will head out on the road to take on the Deering Rams at 4:00 p.m. Scarborough is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.6 runs per game this season.

Everything went their way against Biddeford as Scarborough made off with a 14-3 win. Gabby Pelletier made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Pelletier was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and a double.

In other batting news, Scarborough got a massive performance out of Alana Sawyer, who went 1-for-2 with a home run, two runs, and two RBI. Laine Niles was another key contributor, scoring three runs while going 4-for-5.

Meanwhile, Deering entered their matchup against Portland on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Deering took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Portland. The loss continues a trend for Deering in their matchups with Portland: they've now lost six in a row.

Scarborough now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Deering, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
