Baseball Recap: Plainedge Starts Season with Win Against Malverne

Plainedge gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They put the hurt on the Malverne Mules with a sharp 14-0 win.

Ty Stark looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Bobby Wescott was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Taylor Nitsch was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

Plainedge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Malverne only posted an OBP of .000.

Malverne is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Plainedge will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Mules: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
