Softball Recap: West Albany Has No Trouble Against South Albany

West Albany's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They put the hurt on the South Albany Redhawks with a sharp 9-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Redhawks: they've now won four in a row.

Gabriella Young 2027 spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up 11 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game.

On the hitting side, Amelia Kidd 2026 was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. That run marked the first that she scored this season. Another player making a difference was Mikayla Chaffins 2026, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

West Albany hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Albany struck out 11 times.

West Albany's victory bumped their record up to 2-7. As for South Albany, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Albany will take on Crescent Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. As for South Albany, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against South Salem at 5:00 p.m. The Saxons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.5 runs per game on average), something the Redhawks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
