Volleyball Recap: Oglethorpe County Patriots vs. Oconee County Warriors
Oglethorpe County had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Oconee County Warriors by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday. The Patriots have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.
In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Oglethorpe County sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-18, 23-25, 15-4.
Leanna Newton paced Oglethorpe County's offense, picking up eight kills. Newton got some help from Naomi McPeake and her 14 assists. Nora Turner controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.
Oconee County can attribute much of their success to Sidney Tranel, who had six digs and five aces.
Coincidentally, Oglethorpe County and Oconee County will both be playing Calhoun the next time they take the court. The Patriots will host the Yellow Jackets at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Warriors will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
