Softball Recap: Okaw Valley Takes a Loss

Okaw Valley had lost seven straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 0-8 to make it eight. They lost 21-1 to the Sullivan Redskins. The Timberwolves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Redskins apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for Sullivan, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-8. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Sullivan's part, Natalie Stinson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Stinson has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Taylar Mercer and Karson Robinson did most of the damage at the plate: Mercer got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Robinson went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases Robinson has posted since back in March. Maddy Anderson also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Coming up, Okaw Valley will welcome Heritage at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Timberwolves are facing the Hawks at the right time seeing as the Hawks are stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for Sullivan, they will face off against Tuscola at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Redskins surely won't give up without a fight.
