The Bishop Guilfoyle Marauders will square off against the Purchase Line Red Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Bishop Guilfoyle is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Bishop McCort just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Friday. They had to suffer through a 46-18 loss at the hands of the Crushers. While losing is never fun, the Marauders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 71st, while the Crushers are ranked 14th).
Although Bishop Guilfoyle took the loss, they still got scores from Evan Schimminger, Landon Shellenberger, and Jake Kissell.
Meanwhile, Purchase Line's game on Friday was all tied up 14-14 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 41-22 bruising from United Valley co-op [Blacklick Valley/United]. The Red Dragons have struggled against United Valley co-op [Blacklick Valley/United] recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Victor Bartlebaugh and Shaydon Oleksa. Oleksa had a great game and rushed for 115 yards and a pair of TDs on only 12 carries. Meanwhile, Bartlebaugh was balling out in the loss, rushing for 201 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry.
Bishop Guilfoyle's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Purchase Line, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Bishop Guilfoyle has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 177.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Purchase Line struggles in that department as they've been averaging 213.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Bishop Guilfoyle against Purchase Line in their previous meeting back in November of 2021, as the team secured a 38-8 win. Do the Marauders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Dragons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
