Softball Recap: Ketchikan Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Sitka

Ketchikan faced Sitka in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Kings lost 25-13 to the Wolves. Unfortunately, that's the seventh time they've come up short against the Wolves this season, with their most recent defeat being a 13-4 loss on Friday.

Mariah Pechay-Austin made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Vienna Pahang was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Ketchikan and nudges their season record down to 12-14-2. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Sitka, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-11-4 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Ketchikan beat Sitka by a score of 13-5 later that day.
