Basketball Recap: Kelly Takes a Loss

Kelly was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were dealt a 69-4 loss at the hands of the Taft Eagles. The contest marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

They got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Amy Lora and Luz Escudero, who each put up two points. Daeja West held things down on the boards with five rebounds.

Gabriela Gonzalez continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Taft, dropping a triple-double with 15 points, ten assists, and ten steals. Gonzalez's evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Jalisa Ross, who posted eight points along with eight steals and five rebounds.

Kelly's defeat dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Taft, their win bumped their record up to 11-17.

Kelly wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 32-24 loss against Juarez on the 6th. As for Taft, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 40-38 defeat against Orr on the 6th.
