Football Recap: Hopkinsville Starts Season with Victory at Home

Hopkinsville took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. They blew past the Stratford Spartans, posting a 49-13 win. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 94th in Kentucky, while the Spartans are ranked 261st in Tennessee) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Stratford lost, don't look at Jaxyn Law. Despite the final result, he picked up 105 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Law showed off some serious burst, lighting up the secondary with a catch for 58 yards.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hopkinsville is headed away from home for the first time to take on Madisonville-North Hopkins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Stratford, they will challenge Stewarts Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
