Baseball Game Preview: Torrance Tartars vs. Pacifica Mariners

The Torrance Tartars will square off against the Pacifica Mariners at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Torrance 3.8, Pacifica 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Thursday, Torrance beat South 7-4. The Tartars haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Tessei Magori was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Issac Mora was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three matchup, Pacifica brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Northwood a 13-0 shutout on Tuesday. That looming 13-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Mariners yet this season.

Torrance now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Pacifica, their win bumped their record up to 10-7.

Torrance beat Pacifica 5-2 in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Do the Tartars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mariners turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
