Basketball Game Preview: Decatur Central Hawks vs. Perry Meridian Falcons

It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Hawks challenge the Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Decatur Central is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.

Last Friday, Decatur Central ended up a good deal behind Whiteland and lost 68-50.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Michael Norton, who posted six points along with eight rebounds and eight blocks. Those eight blocks gave him a new career-high. Nash Sigmund was another key player, going 5-for-11 to rack up 14 points.

Meanwhile, Perry Meridian played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 52-30 to Franklin Community. The contest marked the Falcons' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Decatur Central will have to contain Sterlin Lewis as he made an impact in Perry Meridian's last game. He dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Ezra Ceaser, who earned six points.

Decatur Central's defeat dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Perry Meridian, their loss dropped their record down to 6-15.

Decatur Central took their win against Perry Meridian in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 64-43. Does Decatur Central have another victory up their sleeve, or will Perry Meridian turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
