Softball Recap: Miami East's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Miami East extended their winning streak to five on Monday, bumping their season record up to 17-3 in the process. They put the hurt on the Troy Christian Eagles with a sharp 19-1 win. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by six runs or more this season.

Kylie Gentis and Jacqueline Kadel were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Gentis tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Meanwhile, Kadel struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). What's more, Gentis posted two strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. At the plate, Gentis went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs, while Kadel went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Whitni Enis, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Jersey Cutlip also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Miami East kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive games.

As for Troy Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 1-14. They haven't had much luck with Miami East recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

On Troy Christian's side, Nora Inman made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run.
