Baseball Recap: Iona Prep Continues Home Dominance on Saturday

Iona Prep got themselves on the board against Moore Catholic on Saturday, but Moore Catholic never followed suit. They came out on top against the Mavericks by a score of 5-0. The victory continues a trend for the Gaels in their matchups with the Mavericks: they've now won eight in a row.

Brandon Stabile tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over 6.1 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Iona Prep let Jordan Goldstein and Sean Concannon run wild. Goldstein went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Concannon went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was Concannon's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Tran, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Iona Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Moore Catholic only posted a batting average of .182.

Iona Prep's win was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-4-1. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8.3 runs. As for Moore Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 17-8-1.

Iona Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now. After both having extra time off, Moore Catholic and Regis will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on June 25.
