Basketball Game Preview: Ursuline Academy Bears vs. Prestonwood Christian Lions

The Ursuline Academy Bears are taking a road trip to face off against the Prestonwood Christian Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Ursuline Academy is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against John Paul II on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Ursuline Academy lost 53-29 to John Paul II. The contest marked the Bears' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Annabelle Tobin, who posted 12 points. Another player making a difference was Vivie Land, who had four points and five boards.

Meanwhile, Prestonwood Christian had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.4 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They breezed by the Cardinals to the tune of 65-36. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 games by 20 points or more this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Ursuline Academy and nudges their season record down to 13-15. As for Prestonwood Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests, which somehow still isn't as good as their 23-6 record this season.

Ursuline Academy strolled past Prestonwood Christian when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a score of 61-46. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Prestonwood Christian's Londyn Oliphant, who went 9 for 21 on her way to 19 points along with seven steals and five assists. Now that she won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be easier for Ursuline Academy to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
