Baseball Game Preview: Babcock Trailblazers vs. Sarasota Christian Blazers

The Babcock Trailblazers will challenge the Sarasota Christian Blazers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Babcock will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

On Tuesday, Babcock earned a 4-1 victory over Sarasota Military Academy.

Anthony Brand made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He is becoming a predictor of Babcock's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Brand was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Brand wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brodie Hunter, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Hunter also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Sarasota Christian entered their matchup against Cambridge Christian on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Sarasota Christian fell 9-4 to Cambridge Christian.

Evan Poznanski made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Babcock pushed their record up to 6-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 9.5 hits in those games compared to only 4.83 in the others. As for Sarasota Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Babcock has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Sarasota Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
