Softball Recap: Washington Wins Going Away Against Foss

Washington won the last time they faced Foss and things went their way on Thursday too. The Patriots blew past the Falcons 15-7. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won five games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Steve-Rae Garcia-Zamora and Dee Moore made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Garcia-Zamora tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Moore tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. Garcia-Zamora has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Garcia-Zamora went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Moore went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Harmony Steenhard, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Alex Miles, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

Washington has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Foss, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Washington is set to challenge their familiar foe Eatonville at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Foss will face off against rival Clover Park at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
