Basketball Recap: Lewis County Comes Up Short

Lewis County lost against Summertown back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Lewis County Panthers came up short against the Summertown Eagles, falling 76-54.

Kurt Burleson was his usual excellent self, putting up 35 points and six rebounds for Summertown. The dominant performance gave Burleson a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Campbell, who posted 12 points and five rebounds.

Lewis County's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Summertown, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

Lewis County and Summertown should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings. Lewis County (ranked 177th) will meet Battle Creek (ranked 404th) at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Summertown (ranked 129th) will meet Fayetteville (ranked 367th) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
