Softball Recap: Kearsarge Comes Up Short

Somersworth hit Kearsarge with a five-run second inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cougars lost 11-2 to the Toppers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 15-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2022.

Charley Mae Richard 2028 spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and eight unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks.

This is the second loss in a row for Kearsarge and nudges their season record down to 2-14. As for Somersworth, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-13.

Coming up, Kearsarge will host Fall Mountain at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Somersworth does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
