Recap: Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles vs. Covenant Christian Warriors
The Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles waltzed into Saturday's match with two straight wins but they left with three. They took down Covenant Christian 47-31. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Guerin Catholic also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
Guerin Catholic was led to victory by Gianna Morelli and Emery Cardinal. Morelli dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Cardinal scored ten points along with seven rebounds. Those ten points set a new season-high mark for Cardinal. Another player making a difference was Ava Bills, who scored five points along with eight rebounds.
Guerin Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Covenant Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Guerin Catholic will square off against Cathedral at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Cathedral focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday. As for Covenant Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Heritage Christian on Tuesday. Heritage Christian is on a three-game streak of home losses, Covenant Christian a nine-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change.
