Baseball Recap: DasCHE Comes Up Short

DasCHE fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Ovilla Christian on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Ovilla Christian Eagles by a score of 7-6. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2019.

Ashton Laurendine was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI.

Laurendine wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cameron Melerine, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

DasCHE has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. The win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Coming up, DasCHE will take on Tournament Opponent at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday. As for Ovilla Christian, they will head out on the road to take on Prestonwood Christian North at 7:00 p.m. on March 24th.
