Baseball Recap: Pembroke Pines Charter Gets the Win

Pembroke Pines Charter's tournament run continued when they took on IMG Academy Gold on Thursday. The Jaguars had just enough and edged out the Ascenders 5-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Jaguars.

Martin Pereira made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Christian Morales was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

The win got Pembroke Pines Charter back to even at 8-8-1. As for IMG Academy Gold, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season.

Pembroke Pines Charter wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 5-3 loss against Palmetto on the 28th. As for IMG Academy Gold, they have also already played their next match, an 11-5 victory against Montverde Academy on the 28th.
