Softball Game Preview: Manzano Monarchs vs. Eldorado Eagles

The Manzano Monarchs will take on the Eldorado Eagles at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Eldorado took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Manzano, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with seven losses in a row, Manzano turned things around against Albuquerque Academy on Thursday. They blew past the Chargers 15-5. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Monarchs considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

Sophia Rios was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Kiara Laweka, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Meanwhile, Eldorado was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Volcano Vista.

Ariana Notah was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Mya Gallegos, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Eldorado's loss dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Manzano, their victory bumped their record up to 4-19.
