Football Recap: Mendenhall Comes Up Short Despite Tecori Rhodes' Big Defensive Game

Mendenhall and Morton pushed the score to 32-29 the last time they played Morton, but on Friday defenses reigned supreme. The Tigers fell 14-7 to the Panthers. The matchup marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Mendenhall didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Tecori Rhodes, Jaiwon Williams, and Eddie Weathersby picked up one apiece. Antonio Wilson was another major factor on D, picking up two sacks and making seven total tackles.

Xavier McDonald was the offensive standout of the game as he picked up 101 receiving yards and one TD.

Mendenhall is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4. As for Morton, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mendenhall will host Richland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Morton, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Raymond at 7:00 p.m. on the 23rd.
