Basketball Recap: Marion County Skates Past Crawford County with Ease

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Marion County on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the Crawford County Eagles out of the water with a 66-28 final score. Marion County has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Marion County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Valencia Alridge out in front who went 7 for 13 on her way to 18 points along with seven boards and five steals. Alridge has become a key player for Marion County: the team is 10-5 when she posts at least five steals, but 1-2 otherwise. Sage Davis was another key player, going 7 of 16 en route to 17 points in addition to seven steals and five assists.

Marion County was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crawford County only posted five assists.

Despite the defeat, Crawford County saw an underclassman step up: freshman Kamarli McGuire went 5 for 8 on her way to 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Aaliyah Stallion, who posted five points and five boards.

Marion County has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.8 points per game. As for Crawford County, they dropped their record down to 3-16 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home.

Coincidentally, Marion County and Crawford County will both be playing Macon County the next time they take the court. Crawford County will head out to face Macon County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Marion County will host them at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
