Volleyball Recap: Wake Christian Academy Comes Up Short

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Wake Christian Academy and Charlotte Christian, and Charlotte Christian kept the tradition alive. The Bulldogs came up short against the Knights on Saturday, falling 3-0. The game marked the first time this season in which the Bulldogs were not able to get on the board.

While Wake Christian Academy ultimately came up short, they really made Charlotte Christian work, particularly in the first set. The final score came out to 28-26, 25-23, 25-19.

Despite the defeat, Wake Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Evann Curry had 12 digs and three assists. Curry is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Charlotte Christian was led to victory by Holden Gore and Karis Blackson. Gore had 16 digs and seven assists, while Blackson had six aces and one assist. Those six aces gave Blackson a new career-high.

Wake Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Coming up, Wake Christian Academy will welcome Cary Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Charlotte Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Metrolina Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
