Basketball Recap: Valhalla Triumphs + How To Watch

Valhalla proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 22) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They pulled ahead with a 56-55 photo finish over the Kearny Komets. For the Norsemen, this counts as revenge for the 48-45 victory the Komets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2019.

Leading Valhalla to victory were Andrew Mikhail and Cole Davis. Mikhail shot 75% from the field en route to 17 points, while Davis went 9-for-22 to rack up 23 points and seven rebounds. Those 75% field goal percentage gave Mikhail a new career-high. Another player making a difference was George Hinnawi, who posted nine points along with seven boards and five assists.

Valhalla was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They racked up seven more assists than Kearny's also-impressive total of 11.

Despite the loss, Kearny still got an impressive performance from Cameron Ackerman, who went 7-for-14 on his way to 19 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. Jace Anderson was another key player, shooting 45% from the field to rack up 13 points.

Valhalla's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Kearny, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Valhalla has already played their next matchup, a 59-37 victory against Southwest EC on the 22nd. As for Kearny, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 80-34 win against Escondido on the 25th.
