Softball Game Preview: Lipscomb Academy Mustangs vs. Girls Prep Bruisers

For the second straight game, Lipscomb Academy will face off against Girls Prep. The Mustangs will welcome the Bruisers on Friday. Lipscomb Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Girls Prep's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Lipscomb Academy is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Girls Prep just ended the team's nine-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell 5-1 to the Bruisers.

For Girls Prep's part, Sky Marshall spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up ten Ks. Marshall has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Calieah Reyes, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Adrianna Reyes, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Girls Prep has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Lipscomb Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-6.
