Softball Recap: Rootstown Triumphs

Rootstown won the last time they faced Crestwood and things went their way on Thursday too. The Rovers walked away with a 19-15 win over the Red Devils.

Makensea Bittner was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Rootstown got a massive performance out of Morgan Giebel, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Giebel a new career-high. Lilly Kamenash was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Rootstown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Rootstown's victory bumped their record up to 10-7-1. As for Crestwood, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.

Looking ahead, Rootstown will venture away from home to square off against Kirtland at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Crestwood, they will take on Valley Forge at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
