Softball Recap: Delcambre Beats Abbeville for Their Third Straight Win

Delcambre waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Abbeville Wildcats 7-1. Considering the Panthers have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Addilynn Frederick spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. What's more, she gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had since back in February.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Allie Mayard, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Kaelum Sonnier was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Delcambre's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Abbeville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Looking ahead, Delcambre will venture away from home to challenge Centerville at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Abbeville, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Abbeville Wildcats take on Lake Arthur Tigers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
