Volleyball Recap: Cherokee Comes Up Short

Cherokee's tournament run continued when they took on Ashe County on Friday. The Braves fell 2-0 to the Huskies. The Braves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Ashe County scored at least 18 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-20.

Joscelyn Stamper paced Cherokee's offense, picking up five kills. Stamper were helped by Lilly Lossiah and Kennedy Moore, who contributed eight assists each. Lossiah was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Ashe County found their leader in sophomore Kinzley Blevins, who had nine digs and four assists.

Cherokee's loss dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Ashe County, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4.

Cherokee has already played their next game, a 2-1 victory against West Henderson on the 20th. As for Ashe County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Enka on the 20th.
