Baseball Recap: Tahanto Regional Takes a Loss

Tahanto Regional was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 5-1 to the Gardner Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-3 back in April.

Luke Stevens put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Tahanto Regional is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-9 otherwise. Stevens was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Stevens wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Colin Brissette, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Tahanto Regional's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Gardner, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.

Looking ahead, Tahanto Regional will square off against Maynard at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gardner, they will challenge Quabbin Regional at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
