Volleyball Recap: Havana Falls Despite Big Games from Lillian Porter and Willa Towery + How To Watch

Havana lost against PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Ducks fell just short of the Bluejays by a score of 2-1. While the Ducks didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bluejays 25-21 in the first set.

Havana started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-14, 25-21.

Despite the loss, Havana had strong showings from Willa Towery, who had ten digs, and Lillian Porter, who had six digs and three aces. Porter is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last three games she's played.

PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central found their leader in sophomore Rylee Boensel, who had 28 digs and six aces. Those 28 digs set a new season-high mark for Boensel. Another player making a difference was Jaycee Gusemann, who had 18 digs and three assists.

Havana has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-7.

Havana wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Rushville-Industry on the 9th. As for PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central, they have also already played their next game, a 2-1 win against Greenview on the 9th.
