Preview: Munster Mustangs vs. Highland Trojans
Munster has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Highland Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Munster focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday.
Munster can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent game. Everything went their way against Lake Station Edison as Munster made off with a 62-40 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Munster has posted since December 20, 2023.
Gracyn Gilliard was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Munster's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nina Garner, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Highland entered their tilt with Gary West Side with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Highland took down Gary West Side 46-27 on Saturday. Given Highland's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while Gary West Side is ranked 381st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Munster has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. As for Highland, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-6.
Munster strolled past Highland in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 by a score of 68-54. The rematch might be a little tougher for Munster since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
