Baseball Recap: Tuckahoe Has No Trouble Against Haldane

With a playoff win on the line, Tuckahoe rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Haldane Blue Devils. Considering the Tigers have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Connor Brice made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Tuckahoe is undefeated when Brice posts two or more runs, but 5-7 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Luca Delconte, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Rocco Briante, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

The victory made it two in a row for Tuckahoe and bumps their season record up to 13-7. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Haldane, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.

Tuckahoe will have a chance to go back-to-back against Haldane: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
