Game recap: Gillespie High School Football Team defeats Hillsboro

HILLSBORO, Ill. - Gillespie (Ill.) extended its winning streak to five games with a 36-21 victory over Hillsboro (Ill.) on Saturday.

After taking the lead on a Derek Tiburzi touchdown run in the second quarter, the Miners led 29-20 at the half.

Gillespie grew its lead to 17 points entering the fourth quarter. GHS scored two times in the third, including once on a Blake Peterson touchdown run.

Hillsboro (2-3) goes up against Vandalia in a South Central game matchup next week, while Gillespie (5-0) locks horns with Carlinville also in a South Central game.
