Basketball Recap: Alchesay Falls Despite Big Games from Micah Yazzie and Leonardo Pechuli

Alchesay managed to keep up with Benjamin Franklin until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. 2025 welcomed the Alchesay Falcons with a 59-33 loss courtesy of the Benjamin Franklin Chargers. While the Falcons didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Chargers 17-13 in the first quarter.

Alchesay's loss came despite strong showings from Leonardo Pechuli and Micah Yazzie. Pechuli posted six points, while Yazzie had nine points. The dominant performance gave Pechuli a new career-high in points.

Landon Christensen was his usual excellent self, going 10 of 17 on his way to 26 points and eight rebounds for Benjamin Franklin. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Taylor, who put up eight points.

Alchesay's defeat dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Benjamin Franklin, the victory was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-1.

Alchesay will venture away from home to take on Snowflake at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Alchesay is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.4 points per game this season. As for Benjamin Franklin, they will welcome Gilbert Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Benjamin Franklin is on a four-game streak of home wins, Gilbert Christian a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
