Preview: Marion County Warriors vs. Westmoreland Eagles
Marion County is 5-0 against Westmoreland since November of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Marion County Warriors will be playing at home against the Westmoreland Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Marion County will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
Marion County put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 42-9 victory over Cascade at home. 42 seems to be a good number for Marion County as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Marion County to victory, but perhaps none more so than EJ Wilson, who rushed for 68 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. Brody Leonard was another key contributor, rushing for 102 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries.
Another reason for the win was Marion County's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Cascade's QB won't forget Ashton Martin anytime soon given Martin sacked him four times.
Meanwhile, Westmoreland can now show off three landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They breezed by Trousdale County on the road to the tune of 37-0. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Westmoreland had established a 21 point advantage.
Marion County's win was their sixth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 10-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.7 points per game. As for Westmoreland, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-5.
Marion County took their victory against Westmoreland in their previous matchup back in November of 2021 by a conclusive 28-7. Does Marion County have another victory up their sleeve, or will Westmoreland turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
