Baseball Recap: Ledyard Gets the Win

On Saturday Ledyard's undefeated season almost came to an end. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 9-8 W against the New London Whalers. While the Colonels didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Jack Leaf was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sam Dunsmore, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That triple was his first of the season. Carson Luther was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Ledyard's record is now 4-0. As for New London, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ledyard will challenge Waterford at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for New London, they will take on Griswold at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
